Anyone that knows me KNOW that I love finding a good deal. And when the deal is found at the DOLLAR STORE — hold up, that’s a moment of celebration! Decorating on a dollar or at least close to a dollar is like a mini treat for me. Think about it really, I’ll bet you don’t patronize your local Dollar Store or Dollar Tree when you’re thinking about home decor. Most people head to the popular favorites: Pottery Barn, Crate and Barrel, West Elm, ABC Home, Home Goods and of course Target. Some even head to their local Lowe’s (I do love it in there too). My other favorite but more for furniture is Bo Concept with their sturdy clean line furnishings. Years ago I somehow stumbled upon Bo Concept and really became a fan for their construction. The true test of a well made item is how well it survives several moves and let me tell you — the furniture survived! But I digress. We’re talking about decorating on a dollar or close to it!
Disclaimer here: I love all of the above mentioned stores, but let’s keep it real here. Style is not about how much you’ve spent on your furnishings and home decor accessories but how you assemble and spot a find. Think of it this way, it’s clever to mix and match as in mixing a HIGH luxury item with LOW dollar store “ish” item. You wouldn’t point out that you found it at the dollar store would you? Well YES I do it almost like bragging rights! Okay so you tell me what do you think of this find? Not exactly a single dollar but it ran me $15.99, still not bad. I’m sure if I really wanted to I could scavenger hunt at a flea market or garage sale, but sometimes brand new is good.

Not bad right? So focused on the second one–yes a little over the top, but just to make a point here. I headed to Target and found something close but pricier of course at $24.99, not breaking the bank. But the difference I could’ve picked up 2 cappuccinos! Yes the Target Brand feels solid and has a high polish chrome finish. The dollar store find had a matted pewter nickel finish, still not bad. Then check out the other one found at Williams & Sonoma for $60. It’s a bit different certainly cleaner lines and less of a flashy disco ball vibe, but you get the idea. Nevertheless, I’m happy with the find and think it’s a great gift idea for decorating a room. Perhaps a young girls room? What do you think? Do you shop at the dollar store? Or at Amazon? If you’re a fan of Amazon like I am, check this one I found too:
