That’s another post coming soon, but keep reading to learn how to save on home improvement projects up to 20% on your purchases at popular stores like Home Depot, Lowes, HomeGoods, Target and other home decor/home improvement stores. Here’s a couple of tips and tricks I’ve learned and thought you’d find these helpful. And no kidding, I was able to earn FREE hotel room points too and stay a night for FREE. Let’s start:
How to Save on Home Improvement Projects:
Sign up with point friendly credit cards
Don’t take this the wrong way and sign up with every single card, but select one that earns you the most points for future purchases. For instance the Chase Freedom and/or Chase Sapphire card has been a popular one mainly because it offers points that you can use on travel and hotel stays worldwide! As you purchase, watch how quickly your points add up!
Sign up with Upromise Rewards
Designed for folks with student loans and a smart way to earn and pay down your loans. How can you earn?

If you’re interested in joining, head to my contact us page and send your email with the subject heading Perks at Work — Sign Up. I’ll send you a sign up link and get ready to earn points with a ton of online shopping sites. Let’s say you have an account with Home Depot. All you’ll need to do is do the booking through Perks at Work and you’ll earn 2X WOW points and if you use your Chase card, expect to earn points there too! How it works:
- Sign into Perks at Work account
- Search for online store you’re interested in shopping at: example Lowe’s Home Improvement
- Shop and earn 2X WOW points just for using Remax Rewards Perks at Work program (these are additional points you can use for shopping and in my case I use for travel)
- Use your Points credit card and earn points (just remember to pay your card on time please)
When you’ve earned enough WOW Perks at Work points, see how quickly you can book a night at a hotel room for FREE.
Buy Gift cards with Gift Card Granny and Gift Card Zen
These websites are COMPLETELY legit and have excellent customer service. Buy a “used” gift card or combine a few and get up to 10% off! For example, let’s say you’re looking to purchase a $125 sink at Lowe’s, go ahead to any of the above sites and you’ll find gift cards for up to 10% off. What that means is your $125 purchase is 10% less if you purchase an online giftcard from Gift Card Granny and/or Gift Card Zen.
I’m not sure why the whole world doesn’t know about these Gift Card sites, but it’s by far the best. No fees, just select the store you’re interested in and in this case your favorite home improvement store and select the Gift Card amount you wish. Of course you’ll earn extra points for shopping on-line, which translates to FREE hotel room points!
Use your Military Discount (in-store only)
Did you know that Home Depot and Lowes offers a 10% military discount EVERY day? Make sure to show your active military card and/or DD214 papers or Veterans card to the cashier and ask for the discount. So now the $125 sink is now 10% less PLUS if you purchased a gift card with Gift Card Zen, that’s another 10% savings.
$125 sink vanity now costs $101.25!! Imagine if you need to buy $1000 worth of product? It would amount to $810 after you combine your military discount with the gift card discount!
